Current Project:
World Without End Strategy RPG for iOS
Welcome to my site!
I am Steve Uy, Creator/ Artist/ Writer of the graphic novels, Feather and Jova's Harvest.
I began my career in the comic book industry in 2001, one week after graduating from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, I was working for Marvel Comics as the cover artist of the Iceman limited series. Since then, I have gone on to illustrate Uncanny X-Men, Black Panther, Avengers Initiative, JSA Classified, Legion of Superheroes Animated, and so on.
In 2003, I released my first creator owned series, Feather, through Image Comics, followed up by Jova's Harvest. To the left is a collection of my books and art, both published and unpublished, in the order I made them in.
The Marvel/ DC gallery is a collection of covers and pages I did for the publishers since 2001.
I am currently working on a Strategy RPG for iOS and android devices, entitled World Without End, due out early 2012.
11/29/11
-I am currently working on a SRPG called World Without End for iOS. I created, wrote, designed, directed, and illustrated it. Art production is done, being programmed now. Music by Luke Thomas and Corey Pellizzi . It is produced by Higgledy LLC, a startup animation company I worked for last year.
I released a preview of it back in August and have gotten a lot of press from Wired , MacLife , Bleeding Cool , and a bunch of other sites...

Feather
5-issue miniseries
Published 2003 Image Comics
Sehven lives a carefree life as a wheat thresher with his brother Clip. Seeking
only to become a great dragonslayer to fulfill his lifelong dream, Sehv needs
only to find a live dragon to kill, but in a time when dragons are thought to be
long-extinct, this could prove to be much easier said than done.
And then theres Leeka, his best friend, and a self-proclaimed full-blooded dragon.
But if its true, will Sehv be able to accomplish his goal through her?
Feather was my first creator owned book, published in 2003 from Image Comics. It was originally a Black and White graphic novel I drew in my senior year at the School of Visual Arts in 2001, but I later redrew and colored as a pitch to Image Comics. The original B&W story differs in some respects to this "remake," though I doubt I will ever publish that original version. Feather remains my most popular series after all this time.
Print editions of Feather are no longer available, but the entire series is on the Kindle store.
Feather Rex
2006, Incomplete 3-issue miniseries.
The sequel of sorts to the the original Feather miniseries!
Life is hard in the continent of Rakkon, but when youre a human, its nearly impossible! Rex, a young human child abandoned in the Dragon Wars of Rakkon, ekes out a meager living with his half-breed benefactress and girlfriend, Mehna. but, as a fragile human, Rex finds himself little more than acrutch to Mehna's lifestyle...until one day, when he learns of the powers of a dragon's egg, and the strength it could bestow upon a human.
But, in the land of Rakkon, where might one find the egg of an extinct species?
Feather Rex is a new chapter in the world of Feather. A lost episode, it stars a new cast of characters and takes place in the interim of time chronicled in the original Feather issue #1. As such, much of the original cast from the series make guest appearances throughout the story.
Originally envisioned as a 3-issue miniseries, I had to halt production due to a lack of viable publishers.
Production of Feather Rex began in May 2006.
Titan's Tears
~300 page novel, 2006.
Published through Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook
Titan's Tears (graphic novel)
100 page graphic novel, incomplete, 2009
It is said that the tears of a Titan can cure any ailment known to man. It is said that in the land of Mysthennia, home to myths and legends, Titans once blessed the humans with their divine power. But those days are long past.
Here now, in the deserts of Mysthennia, a lone traveler named Persis searches for the last remaining Titan. In search of the cure to the horrific curse that has debilitated his beloved Deiana, Persis has vowed to stop at nothing to save her, even if it means finding the Titan, overcoming the Guardians set in place by Zeus himself, and wrenching from the Titan its tear through the only means known to man...
Torture.
There are two versions of Titan's Tears. Originally, it was my followup to Jova's Harvest and Mortal/ Immortal back in 2006. I decided to take a new approach to writing the script by writing it completely in prose, to get a better understanding of the characters' motivations. Typically I would only write the dialogue before drawing the actual comic pages. Before I knew it, I had written 300 pages in 2 weeks! At the time, however, I knew nothing about the book market and didn't know how to go about shopping it properly to publishers, and along with my work for Marvel and DC that year, Titan's Tears the novel just never got published.
Until now, that is. The novel is available now through Kindle.
In late 2009, I decided to go back to my original intent and illustrate Titan's Tears as the graphic novel it was intended to be. I finished the first 11 pages before scratching the project, with the comic book market in such bad shape at the time it was simply too much of a risk to continue the project, and I later ended up working for an animation studio instead.
Jova's Harvest
3-issue miniseries, 2005
Published by Arcana
Available now in the Kindle store.
An ethical drama told entirely in rhyme!
Jova is a Harvester, an agent of Heaven charged with the task of collecting the souls of pure mortals by facilitating their deaths.
Once every century, the gates of Hell open and Jova is sent to seal them.
His brother, Luci, was given the role of the Devil. But, this century, Jova has another problem to contend with. His sister, an angel of Heaven, has sold her soul to Luci so that she may live in the mortal world with her beloved brothers...
Written entirely in rhyme, Jova's Harvest was a nightmare to write, and also the most fulfilling. It was the followup to Feather, and as such took place in the same world. With the art, I decided to go the opposite approach of Feather and use more organic, sketchy lines. In addition, I vowed against using any blur effects so I could focus purely on textures. After this book, I would once again go in the opposite direction and focus on minimalistic shading with Mortal/ Immortal.
Jova's Harvest is available now in the Kindle store. Phyical books are still available, albeit in limited quantities.
Mortal/ Immortal
40 page one shot, 2004
Available on Kindle store.
Mortal/Immortal is an experiment in mood and atmosphere. Shortly after
finishing up Jovas Harvest, I began production on this one-shot story about a young girl cursed to die before a certain age. In hopes of finding a cure, she seeks out and finds a mysterious immortal man living in a secluded forest. But salvation does not come for free, as the Immortal offers her an exchange instead: If she can find a way to end his life, he, in turn, will save hers.
After doing Jova's Harvest, Mortal/ Immortal was my way of testing minimalist designs and textures. Feather, being my first creator owned series, was quite basic, Jova had an emphasis on texture work, and Mortal Immortal was the final step in the process. By studying contrast and light diffusion over parallax layers, I developed my technique to incorporate draw distance into an otherwise 2D plane. Basically, I made it so things recede much better and more naturally , thus evoking more mood and atmosphere to the whole piece. The techniques I learned with Jova and Mortal would lay the foundation for all my future works from here on in.
Mortal/ Immortal was never published, but it is now available through Amazon Kindle.
Shadowlife
B&W 40 page one shot, 2004.
Unpublished.
Selby is a young knight in training, living a hermit life in his home of Misty Bog, when one day he finds a seemingly dead girl washed up near his home. Selby takes it upon himself to bury the girl, but to his surprise, she digs her way out of her own grave!
By Selby's code of honor, he offers to escort the girl, Leyhal, back to her home village of Shade, unaware that it is a campsite for vampires struggling to suppress their vampiric urges, and Leyahl is their leader!
Now caught in the middle of a pack of vampires while their parents are away, can Selby survive even his first night in Shade?
ShadowLife was a black and white story I began a few months after finishing up the original Feather miniseries. I wanted to go back to basics after working in color for so many years, but in the end, ShadowLife was only half completed. I deemed it was too soon for me to publish in B&W after doing Feather, and so I began production of Jovas Harvest instead.
Shadowlife was envisioned as a one-shot 40-page story with the possibility of more specials to follow, depending upon its success or failure. The world I created in Shadowlife had the potential to be epic in scope, but it was slow to start and I was not sure if the market could support such a series. Someday I hope Ill be able to at least go back and finish the first issue, but with vampire stories being so played out now, who knows if that will ever happen?
Marvel/ DC Works
I did my first cover for Marvel back in June, 2001 after graduating from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Since then, I've done cover and interior work for Iceman, Uncanny X Men, Black Panther, Avengers Initiative, as well as some stuff for DC's JSA Classified, and Legion of Superheroes in the 31st Century.
Here is a sample of my covers and interiors, in as close to chronological order as I can remember illustrating them. Interior samples are at the end of the galleries.
